Treadmill vs. Elliptical
Anyone that wants to buy an exercise machine will most likely be a bit confused by this choice: a treadmill or an elliptical? It's a tough choice indeed, since both exercise machines have great advantages and people always have different opinions about the two. Let's check out some of the benefits of each.
Basically the two exercise machines have different goals: while the treadmill will help you work out your lower body (legs, buttocks, lombars, abs) and will focus on getting rid of the extra fat, the elliptical works your entire body and better tonifies your muscles. When you're training on an elliptical, your exercises will be less intense, but they will require a full motion of both your hands and feet, which will result in a well-balance body and healthy muscles.
The treadmill however is more intense and you can better use it to lose fat. Of course, since nothing comes cheap, training on a treadmill is a bit harder than training on an elliptical, mainly because it requires better stamina (if you use the treadmill for running, of course).
Another advantage that ellipticals have over treadmills is that they are easier to move around, although you will probably require more room for the elliptical than for the treadmill. Treadmills on the other hand, offer a better stability, which is essential for a healthy work-out.
As you can see, both ellipticals and treadmills have advantages and disadvantages over one-another, but still, no one can say that one is batter than the other. You will have an easier choice between choosing from a treadmill and an elliptical if you first set your goals clear. If you want stamina and you want to lose more fat, than the treadmill is for you. On the other hand, if you want to have lean muscle mass and if you want to relax during the workout, the elliptical is the better choice.
